About Us

Our family band plays christian gospel music in a bluegrass style. Our mission is to spiritually uplift our community,  and use the God given talents He has blessed our family with.

Long ago in the beginning of our child-raising, we felt the Lord calling us to homeschool our children in obedience to

Deuteronomy 6:4-9

Listen, Israel:  The Lord our God, the Lord is One.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.  These words that I am giving you today are to be in your heart.  Repeat them to your children.  Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.  Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol on your forehead.  Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

and  Ephesians 6:4

Fathers, don’t stir up anger in your children, but bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

(You know, neglect in teaching children God’s love creates anger in their heart.)

Early on, Mama informed, “It’s about time to find a piano teacher for these children.”
Since I knew she had some knowledge of the piano, I suggested, “Why don’t you teach them.”
She balked, “But, I don’t know much.”
I replied, “Teach them what you know.”

So, with the help of Mr. Baker at Baker’s Music in Gadsden in guiding her to the right music books, they began.  The children were 8 years old and 6 years old.  Soon, Sister expressed an interest in learning to play the harp and Brother expressed an interest in learning the guitar.

I told them, “You have to learn the piano well first.”

Now, eight years later, they have passed their mother and can play any instrument, excelling in many.

On top of that, they are now teaching us.  In fact, to be able to play as part of their band they are teaching us how to play our instruments!

Invest in your children.  They’ll bless your heart!

Children are an heritage of the Lord:  and the fruit of the womb is His reward.

Psalm 127:3

Thank God for your children and sing praises unto His name with your children!  Praise ye the Lord!

Recently, God has laid on my heart the topic of Leadership.  God wants to raise up Godly leaders.  Men are the leaders in the home.  Whether they like it or not, they will either lead their family toward the Lord or away from the Lord.  The father is to train the children to know the Lord and follow him.  My prayer is that I’m winning the hearts of my children to teach them to follow the Lord, so they can in turn teach their children the love of God.

We thank the Lord for the talents He has given our children.  We pray that they will always use them to glorify the Lord.

You know how children are always mistaking words in songs like “Bringing in the Sheaves” for Bringing in the “Sheep” or Bringing in the “Sheets”?  Well, as a child, I really liked the song “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder”, but I didn’t know what a “pyonder” was.  So, I asked my mother, ”What is a “pyonder”?”  She explained that the words were “up yonder” that “up yonder” is talking about heaven and that is where we will go when we die if we give our heart to Jesus.  By the way, we’re all going to die, you know.  Where are you going to be?

If you don’t know where you are going to be when you die, let me introduce you to Jesus.  He is the ONLY way to heaven.  He is the Son of God.  God is the Creator of all things.  God made all things including the first man and the first woman (Adam and Eve).

God put the first man and first woman in a garden with no thorns and lived and dwelt among them and had sweet fellowship with them.  Everything was good.  He gave them their first rule as Father of creation with a choice to obey or not to obey.  He told them they may eat of any tree in the garden except one, the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Well, they disobeyed and ate of the forbidden tree.  As earthly fathers punish their children for disobeying, so the Father of creation punished the first children of creation and banished them from the garden.  He had told them if they ate from that tree they would surely die.  Now, since they disobeyed and ate from the tree, they would not be given the privilege of living forever on the earth.  There would now be an end to their life on the created earth.  They would die.

But, God, the Father, sent Jesus, His only Son, to the created earth to redeem His people.  Jesus came to tell His people about His Father in Heaven.  He told them that they can be reunited with God the Father again if they will repent of their sins.  Repent means to acknowledge sin and, then, turn away from it, or follow Jesus, do what He did/does:

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.  (Mark 12:30 & Deuteronomy 6:5)

People cannot love the Lord God and continue to sin.  People cannot love the Lord God without concern for his fellow neighbor.  “Neighbor” is anyone whether flesh-and-blood family, people we come in contact with daily, or people we don’t even personally know, but know exists.

We have all sinned, but there is hope.  Jesus is that hope. The Bible tells us:

There is no one righteous, not even one.

                                                Romans 3:10

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

                                                            Romans 3:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.                                      Romans 6:23

This is the message of faith that we proclaim: If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  With the heart one believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses, resulting salvation.  Now the Scripture says, no one who believes on Him will be put to shame…for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

                                                                        Romans 10:8-10

Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.

                                                            Acts 16:31

For God loved the world in this way:  He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.  Anyone who believes in Him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the One and Only Son of God.                         John 3:16-18

The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” without keeping His commands is a liar, and the truth is not in Him.

                                                                                    1 John 2:4

Now this is His command:  that we believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another as He commanded us.

                                                                                    1 John 3:23

Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him and he in God.                                                     1 John4:15

It is possible to know Him as your Personal Friend and Comforter.  We must realize that Jesus is not just a good, moral character in an ancient storybook or a great literary work we call the Bible.  There is a time in our life when our eyes are opened, and we realize that this Jesus, who is God’s Son and Creator of all that is, loves us and without Him we have no hope, no direction, no meaning in our life.

We become utterly dejected, remorseful, helpless realizing we need Him in our hearts and lives.  We realize we are not good.  We cannot be good.  We ask His forgiveness for our sins.  We realize how big and how great He is – though no one can really fathom that.  We just know He is more than we are and can ever hope to be.  We realize that He loves us and that He put us in the world that He set in motion.

He allows us to sin and think life is all about us until we begin to flounder about and acknowledge that He is God and that it is He who made us and not we ourselves.  We will bend our knees and humble our hearts and cry out to Him in humility and praise Him for who He is.  We will say, “Why did such a glorious, righteous, all knowing, powerful God create such a self-loving, self-righteous, selfish being like me?”  We will give up our rights as a person and say, “It is all about Jesus.  It is all about God.  We could do none of this ourselves.

We cannot be good on our own no matter how hard we try.  Besides that, what is “good”?  Who decides what “good” is?  Well, that would be God since He is creator of all things.  We better follow His rules.  Believe in Jesus and you shall be saved and join Him in Heaven someday.
